Higg Index Material Sustainable Index (MSI) & Product Module (PM)
Are your customers asking for more transparency from your brand?
Do you want to understand the environmental impact of your products from cradle to grave?
What are the Higg MSI & PM?
The MSI shows the environmental impact of the materials your brand uses while the PM gives an analysis of your products from cradle to grave. Together, they give you the ability to understand everything that goes into creating your products from the materials used and how those are made, to how you package and deliver them, and how your customers use and dispose of them. Take a look at some examples of both below.
What will it do for my brand?
These two powerful modules can give you the knowledge to understand how your choices on material, manufacturing, production, distribution, and customer communication can affect the planet. With this awareness, you will be able to make more sustainable decisions along the lifecycle of your products. With more companies like Amazon recognizing the MSI, you can give your customers the transparency they’re looking for by displaying your score directly on your product.

Higg Materials Sustainability Profiles
Higg Sustainability Profiles are a new addition to the the Higg Index. These profiles allow brands to display scores to their MSI.
Higg PM Scoring
The scores in the PM give a breakdown of the environmental impact of your products. It’s taken years to create a catalogue of data that Higg users can choose from to give the most accurate life-cycle analysis. Most recently, they’ve included default settings for brands to use to determine the post manufacturing footprint such as how packaging, shipping, distribution (e.g. DTC or retail), customer use (e.g. how many times a product is worn or washed), and other settings all contribute to the overall sustainability of your products.
