SB 343 will prohibit the "chasing arrows" symbol, any other recyclability symbol, or any recyclability statement on products and packaging sold in California unless the item meets specific criteria showing it's actually collected and recycled by programs serving 60% of the population. The rule applies based on manufacture date, not sale date, so packaging produced on or after October 4, 2026 must comply even if it sells later.
SB 343 violations expose your company to litigation by private plaintiffs under California's Unfair Competition Law and False Advertising Law. Don’t wait for litigation to arrive, take action on SB 343 compliance today.
